COACH BUSSANíS COMMENTS:It was a disappointing day for the boys.We knew going in that we faced three very talented squads. As expected, Boone dominated the meet.Ballard ran far and away their best team race of the year in finishing a strong 2nd.Dallas Center-Grimes used outstanding performances by their top three runners, including two runners in the top ten, to out distance us by sixteen points. Our top three runners had solid efforts but as our pack drifted apart, we were unable to put enough points on Dallas Center-Grimesí #4 and #5 runners to make the difference.Individually, Alex Lamp qualified for state with a solid 5th place finish. This marks his 2nd qualification for state as an individual.Senior Austin Elm capped off a great senior season as our #2 with a good run and sophomore Ethan Glenn had his best race to finish as our #3.

While it is a disappointing ending, we had a very successful season highlighted by our championship of the North Central Conference. While seniors Alex Lamp, Austin Elm and Mason Hedeen will be moving on along with a number of senior junior varsity runners, we will be returning an excellent core of varsity and top junior varsity runners to build upon.

We will now turn our focus to supporting Alex as he represents our program at the 3A State Cross Country Meet next Saturday at Kennedy Park in Ft. Dodge. His race will occur at 12:30 p.m.

COACH BUSSANíS COMMENTS: Our girls ran by far their best race of the year as a team.6th place at this meet only 43 points behind the state qualifying mark was a fine effort. Our 1-5 runners had our smallest gap of the year.Sophomore Morgan Moline accomplished a major goal in qualifying for state for the first time with a 9th place finish and a new personal record. She went out aggressively and moved into the top 10 after the first ĺ of a mile. From there on, she battledDallas Center-Grimes and Atlantic athletesbetween 8th-10th places. Her strong finish solidified her trip to state.Morgan has come a long way as an athlete in the past year and has done a great job of leading us by performance.Fellow sophomore Brenna Paukert also ran a great race along with freshman Megan Hughes, senior Alicia Long and freshman Gina Moline.Sophomores Brittney Dodge and Rachel Kauffman rounded out our effort.††

Alicia Long, as our lone varsity senior, has done a tremendous job of providing the guidance and leadership to the other members of the squad. It was great to see her have a good effort as her final race for the program. While we will miss Alicia, as well as our junior varsity seniors, we return 6 of our top 7 runners as well as our top junior varsity athletes. The girls should be very excited for what the future holds.

The squad will now support Morgan as she represents all of us at the Class 3A State Cross Country Meet at Kennedy Park in Ft. Dodge next Saturday with her race occurring at noon.††
