WEBSTER CITY LYNX CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS

STATE MEET-OCTOBER 31, 2009

BOYS CLASS 3A

Alex Lamp                               39th-17:18

COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:  Alex had a very fine race to conclude his junior season.  He followed the race plan we had laid out perfectly.  He ran with Algona’s #3 and #4 runners throughout the race and competed very well.  His opening 5:07 mile was his best of the year and had him at 25th place at that point.  A strong second mile continued to place him in 25th and he held that position through 2 ˝ miles.  Over the final half mile Alex fought hard to hold off a charging pack of runners to earn 39th place.  Going into the meet our goal was to be in the top 40 and to show vast improvement over his 2007 state performance of 119th in a time of 18:53.  This years placing of 39th in a time of 17:18 is dramatic evidence of the long-term effort Alex has made and the vast improvement it has earned him.  It will be great to have him returning next year as our senior leader for what should be a much improved boys squad that has the potential to return the Lynx to state team competition.
