Ben Lambert

Mason Powers

COACH BUSSANíS COMMENTS:While neither of the boys had the race that they had hoped for, they each had good performances.

Ben Lambert finished his cross country career as a 4 time state participant, (3 times as an all district runner). He exhibited great leadership this year and served as a great mentor to Mason in his week of preparation for state. While Ben had hoped to earn all state status with a top 10 finish, it was clear early on that he was not going to be able to compete at the front of the race Saturday. He still gave a good effort and can be proud of what he has accomplished over his career.

Mason Powers finished as the 5th best freshman of the meet which is quite an accomplishment. To my best recollection, he is the first freshman boy in our programís history to earn all district honors and compete at state as an individual qualifier.Mason was quite excited about the opportunity. He learned a great deal by competing at state this year. That should prepare him well as he moves forward over the next 3 years.

While our squad was disappointed in missing the state meet for the first time in 13 years, we will use that as motivation as we prepare for next season. We return 6 of our top 7 runners along with several strong J.V. and middle school runners.

Our banquet will take place on Monday November 10th at 6:30 p.m. at the Webster City Middle School commons. The dinner is potluck and those attending should bring their own service.
