COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:  We competed very well against a high quality field.  The meet was won by the 4th ranked Spencer.  Spencer had a quality race.  They beat us by 12 at Carroll Kuemper and stayed ahead of us by a similar margin at this meet.  We accomplished a goal by defeating Eagle Grove by 2 points in a heated battle despite the fact that usual #1 Jesse Ogg suffered severe stitches halfway through the race and had to hold on for 15th.  Ben Lambert and Ethan Barnes had exceptional races against some of the very best in the state.  Brandon Hicok returned to our line-up with a quality effort in his first race of the year.  Alex Lamp had his best race to date to finish as our #5 runner.  Matt Severe battled hard to finish right behind Alex and Adam Klein had his best race to date.  We are making progress as a boys team and the conference meet shapes up to be a tight battle between Algona, ourselves and Eagle Grove.  On the J.V. side, Mason Hedeen and Austin Elm had very good efforts.

*Course was 200-300 meters short (J.V. race only)

COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:  The meet was dominated by an outstanding Fairmont, Minnesota team.  Spirit Lake Park is the best girls team from Iowa we have faced to this point.  Estherville-Lincoln Central, currently ranked 5th, also is very sound.  We gave a very good account of ourselves nipping a ranked Spencer squad.  Mikaela had an outstanding race to finish 7th beating a number of the state’s best runners in the process.  Sarah Perin and Breanne Wagner also ran very well.  Erin Hunt had, by far, her best race of her career and stepped forward when we needed her.  Paige Bonjour was solid as our #5.  Caitlyn Finucan and Jewel Nuehring struggled but that is why you run 7 and I am very pleased by the way we are developing team depth.  On the J.V. side, Bailey Bergman had an outstanding race and Amanda Hicok, Alicia Long and Kelsey Griffith all had their best races to this point in the season.  We will now prepare for the Eldora New Providence meet on Saturday.
