COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:  We had an excellent team performance in the largest regular season meet held in Iowa.  Not only did we finish runner-up to a strong Garner-Hayfield team but we would have defeated Ballard and Nevada who finished 1, 2 in class B and ran alongside us in the same race.  This means our girls stack up extremely well with the Central Iowa schools in our class.  Mikaela had an outstanding race in winning one of the premier meets in Iowa.  Breanne Wagner returned to form with a top 10 performance and Sarah Perin did a great job finishing 4 seconds behind her.  Caitlyn and Paige both had excellent races and worked well together to round out our scoring.  Jewel Nuehring showed significant progress as did Erin Hunt.  Bailey Anderson and Bailey Bergman both had excellent J.V. performances are returning to the form they showed late last year.  Overall, most of our athletes had season’s best performances.  We will now get a look at the best of Southwest Iowa as we travel to Carroll on Saturday.

COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:  As a team, we continue to improve.  Boone just nipped us by 2 points after being the meet champions at our home met.  Highly regarded Winterset wasn’t that far in front of us and we beat Garner-Hayfield and Dallas Center- Grimes, two highly regarded teams.  We will need to continue to improve if we hope to accomplish our season’s goals.  Individually, Jesse, Ben and Ethan had outstanding races.  Ethan, in particular, had an excellent last 800 meters to move ahead of several runners.  Matt Severe also had his best race ever to finish 24th and freshman Alex Lamp continues to improve.  On the J.V. side, Jared Wilaby and Mason Hedeen had new personal bests and broke into our varsity line-up for Saturday.  Throughout our line-up, we showed significant improvement.  We now head to Carroll Kuemper on Saturday to see how we measure against Southwest Iowa.
