COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:  It was an exceptional way for our girls to begin their season.  We are very pleased with the way we were able to pack together.  However, we cannot be satisfied with our performance as we must improve significantly as the season goes along in order to accomplish our goals.  I was surprised by our margin of victory.  Mikaela had an outstanding race against a quality field.  Breanne stepped forward significantly to break into the top 10.  Freshman Caitlyn Finucan had an excellent race.  We only had a one minute gap between our #2 and #6 runners and overall things will be quite promising if we can continue to improve.  On the J.V. side, Amanda Hicok had a strong effort as she led a significant portion of the race and battled throughout.  We next look forward to the Waverly age group meet on Tuesday.

BOYS J.V.

Unfortunately, due to severe weather, the boy’s J.V. race had to be cancelled.

COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:  I was pleased with the way our team competed given that we went into the meet running 2 freshmen and a senior in their first varsity races.  Jesse had a great race and is well ahead of where he was last season.  Ben also showed improvement with a top 10 finish.  Ethan ran very well also.  Matt had a bit of a tough race but that actually helped Alex Lamp who had a fantastic effort and showed significant improvement over last week’s time trial.  He really stepped forward to help the team.  Adam Klein and Mason Hedeen battled hard and will continue to improve.  Overall, to finish in a tie for 5th knowing we will be a much stronger team later in the year indicates that if we can take care of business, both on and off the course, we can still accomplish our season’s goals.

I want to thank George Rasmussen and the staff at the Links Golf Course for allowing us to continue to use the facility and for their assistance.  I appreciate the support of the Webster City school staff, the running club and the many members of the community who helped and turned out to support our squads.  The boys look forward to competing at the Waverly age group meet next Tuesday.
