COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS: The boys ran another very solid team race. This course is much more demanding than the Whittemore course. The team continues to show good strength in finishing races. Jess Ogg ran his best race to date as he separated from Nevada’s #1 runner halfway through the race and then continued to extend his lead through the finish line. His time of 17:17 is one of the better performances we have had on this course. Ben Lambert also had an outstanding race to finish 3rd. Brandon Hicok is getting stronger with each race. Aaron Bieker and Ethan Barnes are doing a great job in finishing our scoring pack. Freshman Matt Severe ran a gutsy race despite some very sore legs. Senior Devin Linn rounded out our varsity. On the J.V. side, Jon Richardson and Zach Turner had strong efforts. We are looking forward to the opportunity to run on the state meet course this Thursday in the Ft. Dodge Invitational. The meet begins at 5 p.m. and features a very deep, predominantly 4A field.

COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS: I chose to have #2 and #3 runners, Mikaela Pruismann and Paige Bonjour sit out this meet as they have battling leg injuries. Both should be fine for our upcoming championship meets. The team responded well and several individuals had strong races as we took on several outstanding 1A and 2A teams as well as conference rival Iowa Falls-Alden and potential district opponent Nevada. I was very pleased that our girls did not back down. Emily Long ran well to finish 12th. Freshman Breanne Wagner had her best race to date in finish 18th. Freshman Sarah Perin had another strong performance finishing 23rd. Freshman Erin Hunt stepped up with her best race of the year and freshman Ashley Mallinger used a strong finish to round out our scoring 5. Senior Becky Perin and freshman Amanda Hicok completed our varsity line-up. With conference approaching at Iowa Falls a week from Tuesday, it looks as if Iowa Falls and ourselves go into the meet essentially even when we run our full varsity. That should make for an exciting opportunity that day. Our J.V. girls ran very well despite being very short handed due to two J.V. runners moving up to varsity. Freshman Bailey Anderson dominated the race from start to finish winning by a large margin in what was clearly her best race of the year. Freshman Ashley Stephens also had her best race in finishing 4th and senior Elizabeth Johnson had her season’s best effort to finish 8th. We now look forward to competing on the state meet course on Thursday at Ft. Dodge.
