COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:  Overall our girls competed very, very well.  We had a number of significant improvements from the Lynx Invitational performances on a course that was much tougher.  Our freshmen girls stacked up very well finishing 2nd out of 13 teams and our overall team performance finishing, we believe, 2nd out of all of the teams present although team scores were not immediately available.  Our senior girls finished 6th in their race. Obviously, our award winners had exceptional races. In particular, Emily Long really stepped forward and was substantially improved over last week and improved on her performance at this meet a year ago.  It was great to see our seniors Emily and Becky race well.  Becky improved significantly from a week ago and is back in our varsity mix. We also had great performances by Paige and Mikaela. We continue to have tremendous competition for varsity positions which will make us stronger.  I am very pleased to see the improvement throughout our entire line-up.

COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:  Obviously we are extremely upset by the mistakes made by the course officials the during junior race.  Both Jesse and Ethan were running outstanding races before the officials’ error resulted in their being unable to be scored in the meet.  Otherwise, we had outstanding efforts.  There were a number of personal bests and the team is getting better and deeper as we go.  In particular, Ben Lambert had an excellent race in the sophomore event.  Aaron Bieker’s race represented a significant improvement and Brandon Hicok cut over 5 minutes off of his time from this meet a year ago.  Freshman Matt Severe battled hard throughout to medal in an outstanding freshman race.  Considering that Jesse would have been our top finisher with a time in the mid-17’s and Ethan would have been near Ben Lambert’s performance, it seems that we are building better team depth and strengthening our team’s overall scoring ability.  There is good competition for varsity positions and I am excited to what the entire squad can do at Ballard on Monday.
