COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:  It was a great way for our senior girls to start off the year.  Winning this meet achieved one of their preseason goals.  I was very pleased with our pack running as our top four girls were within 23 seconds of each other.  To have four medalists at a meet of this caliber is an indication of our team strength.  Kelsey Tompkins showed great leadership.  Junior Emily Long and senior Shannon Kane both showed their experience as they ran in the top group.  Freshman Paige Bonjour had a super opening effort to finish 10th.  Elizabeth Johnson had a fine performance and showed great improvement over a year ago for our J.V.

COACH BUSSAN’S COMMENTS:  Chris Wardell had a great individual race with Ft. Dodge’s Tyler Jordison.  Chris led the first two miles and pushed hard but Jordison was able to use a strong finish to pull away.  This race should help Chris improve.  It lets him know that he needs to become more conditioned in order to be stronger at the end of the race.  I was pleasantly surprised by our next three varsity finishes as sophomore Jesse Ogg finished 10th after running as high as 4th in the race,  all doing so on limited conditioning.  Junior Alex Flege also performed well and freshman Ben Lambert set a new personal record with a very strong 16th place finish.  We will need to continue to develop our depth in order to become more competitive as a team.
